CF Valencia at Granada CF

Granada welcome Valencia to Nuevo Estadio de Los Carmenes on Tuesday night where both sides will be looking to book their place in the Copa del Rey semi-finals.
Granada’s 2019/20 Copa del Rey journey began with a 3-2 victory over L’Hospitalet. Diego Martinez’s side then beat Tamaraceite in the second round before seeing off Badalona 3-1 in the Round of 32. Granada secured an extra-time win over Badajoz last week to progress into the quarter-finals. It’s fair to say that Granada’s route to the last eight has been less than convincing.
Following a promising start to the campaign, Granada have started to slide down the top-flight table and currently themselves tenth. Martinez’s men have lost three of their last five league outings and have struggled to score goals in recent weeks. Granada have only managed to score over 2.5 goals in one of their previous 19 La Liga games, leaving them with a goal difference of –2.
Valencia entered the competition at the Round of 32 and beat Logrones 1-0 to advance. However, Valencia needed a penalty shootout to get past Segunda Division B side Cultural Leonesa in the previous round after being held to a goalless draw. Like Granada, Valencia have also struggled to make their mark on the Copa this season.
However, Valencia have won three of their previous five league games and come into this matchup on the back of a hard-fought victory over Celta Vigo. Albert Celades’ side are now fifth in the top-flight standings – two points behind third-place Getafe. It’s also worth pointing out that Valencia have kept a clean sheet in three of their last four league games.
Prediction and Pick
Granda have been pretty inconsistent recently, while Valencia have discovered some good form. There is a seven-point gap between Valencia and Granada in La Liga and I think this is a fair reflection of where the two teams are at right now. The bookies have made Valencia the favorites to win this matchup and I’d have to agree. Due to Valencia’s away status, the odds are looking tasty.
