The Houston Dynamo and FC Dallas square off Saturday night at the BBVA Compass Stadium.
The Houston Dynamo hope they can build on a 3-3 draw against the New England Revolution. In the match, the Dynamo had a 2-1 lead but allowed a tying goal in the final minutes. The good news for Houston is that it did connect on three of its five shots on target and managed to control the ball for 52 percent of the match. Cristian Maidana leads Houston with one goal, Will Bruin has two assists and Giles Barnes has four shots. Defensively, Joe Willis has come away with three saves on six shots faced. The Houston Dynamo have picked up points in four straight regular season home games.
The FC Dallas hope to build on their impressive 2-0 victory over the Philadelphia Union. In the victory, FC Dallas managed to get 10 of its 17 shot attempts on target despite controlling the ball just 48 percent of the time. If FC Dallas can be that aggressive all season, it’s going to be another successful year for Óscar Pareja and his squad. Maximiliano Urruti leads Dallas with one goal, Mauro Diaz has two assists and Fabian Castillo has given shots. Defensively, Jesse Gonzalez has come away with two saves on two shots faced. The FC Dallas have come away with points in four of their last eight regular season road games.
FC Dallas has owned Houston Dynamo, winning each of the last five meetings by a combined score of 17-5. It’s simply been an ugly history for Houston in this Texas rivalry. Four of the last five meetings has produced at least five goals.
Even with FC Dallas being on the road, the recent matches between these two teams gives us no reason to back the home team. We have to see Houston show up against Dallas before putting any stock into them.
Take FC Dallas.
