The English League Championship is underway with the teams preparing for the long season ahead. On opening day we will get a game between Hull City and Aston Villa. The game will take place at KCOM Stadium so Hull City will be at home for this fixture. Both teams will look to start their season with a win so we should get a great game of football.
Hull City had a very poor 2017/2018 season and were lucky to avoid relegation. The Tigers made up for their poor league campaign with a deep FA Cup run but it will be a priority for the club to do better this season. It has been a frustrating transfer window for the Tigers as they have missed out on many players they wanted to sign and that means that the squad is not as strong as the management would have wanted. That being said, the team improved in the second half of last season and there are optimistic hopes among the home fans at the KCOM Stadium.
On the other hand, Aston Villa were unlucky to miss out on promotion last season and will be desperate to ensure they can return to the Premier League this time around. The Claret have a really good squad and they have made some useful additions during the summer. This seems like the season the club will excel and there is a huge amount of optimism surrounding the club. The manager, Steve Bruce, will know the importance of winning on opening day and I am sure that Villa will play to win, even away from home.
It will be interesting to see how these two teams start their season but I am expecting Hull City to start with a loss and Aston Villa to start with a win. The Clarets are a much superior side to the Tigers and even at KCOM Stadium, I see the visitors leaving with all three points.
