Inter is welcoming Lazio in round 29 of Italian Serie A.
Inter hasn’t been playing good soccer for quite some time now and have been struggling on the offensive end. Inter does have some good news as star striker and former captain Mauro Icardi’s issues have been resolved and he is back on the team which should give them a boost in their offense. Inter is currently in 3rdplace in the standings with 53 points but Milan is breathing down their necks with 51 points. In their last game against Milan, Inter had 45% ball possession, 5 shots on goal and 85% of correct passes and even though they were the worse team on the pitch, Inter was able to win that game 2-3 and give themselves some breathing room in the standings. Even though Icardi was suspended for over a month, he is still Inter’s top goal scorer with 9 goals followed by Martinez who scored 6. Inter’s only injured player is de Vrij so coach Spalletti will have his best players on disposal for this game. Inter’s home record so far is 9 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses and have conceded only 6 goals and are one of the best home teams in Serie A.
Lazio had a pretty bad start of the season but slowly their potential is starting to show. Ciro Immobile is Lazio’s top goal scorer with 13 goals while Correa added 5 assists. Berisha, Wallace and Jordan Lukaku are injured and will not play in this game. Lazio is holding 6thplace in the standings with some pretty good chances in reaching Champions League spot. In 13 away games Lazio have played so far they conceded 14 goals which shows that their defense isn’t on the same level as it is when Lazio is playing at home and that is something coach Inzaghi will need to work on if they want a shot at getting to that Champions League spot. Lazio aren’t playing overly offensive soccer, instead they are trying to control the midfield which is the strongest part of team. In their last game against Parma, Lazio had an amazing game with 54% of ball possession, 8 shots on goal and 86% of correct passes and have won that game 4-1. Lazio has been close to the top in Serie A for years now but they always seem to be missing that one last step to get there but if Lazio’s management will be able to keep most of the young players in the team, Lazio could finally be in top three teams next season.
The away team has won 5 of last 6 matches between these two teams and there was plenty of goals scored but in this game I’m not giving the edge to either of the teams because I don’t see a lot of chances happening in this game.
