Inter is welcoming Lazio in a derby match of round 5 in Italian Serie A.
Inter is playing great soccer with compact and solid defense, strong midfield and efficient attack. Inter is the only team in Serie A with all 4 victories and it doesn't look like they are stopping anytime soon. In their last match against Milan, Inter had 48% of ball possession, 7 shots on goal, 6 corner kicks, and 86% of correct passes. Inter was playing great soccer in this match and their patience and calmness paid off and Inter has won this match 0-2 with goals by Brozovic and Lukaku. Lukaku has scored 3 goals in 4 matches for Inter while Brozovic and Sensi each have 2 goals. Inter was struggling whole last season and has barely got qualified for Champions League but with the arrival of Antonio Conte as a head coach, everything changed for Inter. Few great players signed with Inter, their game style changed and now after years of misery, Inter is a team that is capable of winning the title. The defense is the most improved part of this team and Inter has conceded only 1 goal in first 4 matches in Serie A. Inter and Napoli are the main competitors to Juventus for the Serie A title, but Roma, Lazio, and Milan could be a potential surprise this season. The problem for Inter is that they are playing in Champions League and I don't think they have a depth to be competitive in both competitions and it would be better for them to focus on Serie A.
Lazio has done well in first 4 matches in Serie A and has 2 wins, 1 loss, and 1 draw. In their last match against Parma, Lazio was a much better team with 62% of ball possession, 9 shots on goal, 10 corner kicks, and 90% of correct passes and has routinely won this match 2-0. Lazio is still looking for a proper form and the right lineup to get the things going and I'm sure coach Inzaghi is doing everything he has to do to accomplish that. Ciro Immobile has scored 4 goals in 4 matches for Lazio and has instantly become the main favorite for a Serie A top goalscorer. Luis Alberto has added 2 assists. Jordan Lukaku is the only injured player for Lazio which means coach Inzaghi will have his best players like Milinkovic-Savic, Immobile, and Correa at his disposal. Lazio has ended up 9th in the Serie A standings last season and got qualified for Europa League while this season they are aiming for one of the top 5 spots. I'm expecting Juventus, Napoli, and Inter to take the first 3 spots because frankly, they are the best teams in Italy at the moment, while Lazio, Milan, Roma, and Atalanta will be fighting for fourth and fifth place. Lazio likes to play compact and at the moments rough soccer and when playing in good form, they can take any team down but that form is not yet here and there is still some work to do for Lazio's coaching staff.
Inter hasn't won any of their last 4 home matches against Lazio, while Inter hasn't lost any of their last 8 matches. Offensively, both teams are playing good, but Inter is playing better overall and for as long as they are riding this winning streak, I will side with Inter.
