Inter is welcoming Udinese in round 3 of Italian Serie A.
Inter is playing in fantastic form and hasn't lost any of their last 5 games. Inter is at the top of Serie A at the moment with 6 points, 6 scored goals and only 1 conceded goal. In their last match against Cagliari, Inter was a better team with 60% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, and 87% of correct passes. Inter's game style has completely changed with the arrival of Antonio Conte as the head coach. He brought some new players, a different approach and because of that players are more confident and consistent. Inter had a solid team last year as well and after a decent start of the season, Inter started playing bad soccer on both ends and has entered a bad form from which they never completely recovered. Inter was able to qualify for Champions League after they ended up 4th in the standings last season, just 1 point above Milan. Lukaku has scored 2 goals in first 2 games while Sensi, Martinez, Candreva, and Brozovic added 1 goal each. Stefan De Vrij is only injured player which means that Conte will have his best lineup at his disposal. Inter was playing defensive soccer with very few created goal chances per game for the last few years, but since Conte has taken over, he added another dimension and more offensive options to this team and because of that Inter is alongside Napoli the main competitor to Juventus in Serie A.
Udinese was on a brink of relegation last season and then they decided to bring a new coach, Igor Tudor. Since that moment everything has turned around and Udinese has started playing good, attacking soccer and has managed to stay in Serie A. Udinese kept Tudor as a head coach and despite a bad preseason, Udinese has beaten Milan in their season opener. In their last game against Parma at home, Udinese was the better team with 51% of ball possession, 11 shots on target, 8 corner kicks, 85% of correct passes but their defense wasn't on the level and Udinese lost 1-3. Udinese has a solid, young team led by Rodrigo De Paul who is their best player and is wanted by many big clubs in Europe. Lasagna and Becao both scored 1 goal each while De Paul added 2 assists. Ter Avest is the only injured player for Udinese. Last season Udinese ended up in 12th place in Serie A standings thanks to 3 wins in last 3 games and I think they have enough quality to get to that place and even a few places higher this season as well. Igor Tudor is a young coach who still has a lot to learn but I think he is the right man for this club and this team.
Inter hasn't lost any of their last 6 home matches and is on a 5 game winning streak. Inter and Udinese have played 55 times dating back to 1993. with Inter winning 29 times, Udinese 14 times while 12 matches ended up in a draw. Both teams are playing in solid form but Inter has more quality and more depth which could prove useful as the game progress. I'm going to side with Inter here.
