Italy were impressive under Conte at the Euros but he is gone now and for the Italians it will be start of a new reign as they begin their campaign against the world champions, Germany. For Germany this will be another chance for them to flex their muscle while for Italy they would like to get an upset win to show the world that they are still a force in world football.
Italy do not have the best team in the world but like history suggests, they have one of the best defenses in the world. This bread of Italian defenders includes legendary goalkeeper Gigi Buffon, along with Chelini and Bonucci. This will mean that the backline will be strong and keeping clean sheets might be something that will happen quite often. I expect Italy not to concede many goals in this game and on the same level I don’t expect them to score many goals since their midfield and attack are way to weak when compared to the Germans.
Germany will know this and I am expecting them to press strongly in order to break down the Italian defense. That being said it will not be an easy task since the experience and skill that Italy possess is amazing when it comes to defending. Germany might get hit on the break with this approach but all in all I am expecting a very low scoring game.
We are getting a pretty good score on the under 2.5 goals. This is by far the best bet since any of the three results are possible and betting on the favorites, Germany is not a strong play here considering the price we are getting.
