Italy vs Republic of Ireland 22 June 2016: Euro 2016 Preview and Predictions

Italy are through as group winner as they look to finish their group stage matches against the Republic of Ireland. For Italy this game doesn’t mean much since it won’t affect whom they play in the round of 16 but for the Republic of Ireland, a win might see them to the next stage of the competition.

Ireland were humiliated in their last game as Belgium showed their class and it will be tough to bounce back from that loss. That being said, with cool and experienced minds such a Roy Keene in the side it will help. This game will see them play a deflated Italy side as Conte has already said he will rest players but I still don’t think it will be enough for them to win this game.

Italy will play their second team but that team is still good with the likes of Stephan El Sharaawy who are superstars in their own right. These players will surely look to impress their boss so I think we can expect a determined Italy side in this game. If these players play well they should win easy and that is what I am going to predict is going to happen in this game.

Betting on Italy is not a profitable play since we are getting way too short of a price. That being said, there are still good bets in this game with the under 2.5 goals being the best. This Italy side doesn’t not have many goals in them but their defense is still as good as any Italy side of the past. This team doesn’t have what it takes to score more than 2 goals while they are very unlikely to concede so this seems like a pretty safe bet.

Under 2.5 Goals
