Juventus is hosting Napoli in a derby match of round 2 of Italian Serie A.
Juventus has started new Serie A season on a positive note in a match away from home against Parma. In that match, Juventus was a much better team with 62% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 8 corner kicks and 89% of correct passes and has won this game 0-1 with an early goal from Chiellini. Juventus has a great team this year and is still planning to bring a few more players from which most notable is Rakitic from Barcelona. Juventus has sold a few of their younger players like Concelo and Kean and has brought on Danilo and Ramsey who will help them on their journey to win Champions League with their experience. Bringing older and experienced players is a clear sign that Juventus doesn't care about future or Serie A and their only goal in the Champions League. Juventus has also signed a new coach, Maurizio Sarri who is a brilliant tactician and could be their secret weapon. Juventus is playing calm and patient soccer, with a lot of passes in the middle of the field and strong and compact defense. Offensively, Juventus has a lot of potentials and once Higuain and Ronaldo get used to each other, Juventus will be possibly the most balanced team in Europe and will be one of the main favorites to win Champions League.
Napoli is in my opinion playing the best and most attractive soccer in Italy. Fast, exciting and the type of soccer where they always want to score 1 goal more than the opponent rather than to concede 1 goal less. In their first game against Fiorentina, Napoli had 58% of ball possession, 7 shots on goal, 5 corner kicks, and 85% of correct passes and has won this fantastic game 3-4 with goals from Mertens, Insigne, and Callejon. Napoli is in Italy, what Borussia Dortmund is in Bundesliga. For a few years now Napoli has been behind Juventus in the end after being so close throughout the whole season but those small black holes on the defensive end and the few missed chances in those tight games is what cost them the title. Lorenzo Insigne was Napoli's best player in the first game with two goals and he will be one of the team leaders this season for Napoli. Milik is the only injured player in Napoli which means that coach Ancelotti will have most of his best players ready to play. Napoli will be playing Champions League this season, but their main goal is Serie A, and because Juventus will be focusing on Champions League, I think this might finally be the breakthrough season for Napoli. Last year Napoli scored 74 goals in 38 matches while conceding 36 goals. Good news is that Napoli was able to keep their defense intact and has signed another potential superstar Hirving Lozano who will be a great addition to this team.
Head to head, Juventus is ahead of Napoli with 24 win while Napoli has 12 wins. Napoli is on a 3 game winning streak away from home and because it's the beginning of the season and both defenses are still a bit shaky, I see goals in this match on both sides.
