LA Galaxy and Real Salt Lake meet Saturday in MLS soccer action at the StubHub Center.

LA Galaxy have earned points in three of their last four matches and are coming off a 1-1 draw against the Portland Timbers. LA Galaxy went from being a team that looked like its going to have issues in the West this season to being just three points out of the playoff picture. LA Galaxy has improved a lot on the defensive end during this stretch, allowing one or less goals in three of their last four matches, which includes shutouts over the San Jose Earthquakes and Montreal Impact. LA Galaxy could be a team to watch as we enter the heart of the season and that playoff push really begins. Zlatan Ibrahimovic leads the Galaxy with five goals, Emmanuel Boateng has five assists and Romain Alessandrini has 31 shots.

Real Salt Lakehas won each of its last three MLS matches, but it takes a rough 1-5-1 record on the road. Real Salt Lake is a really impressive team at home with a solid defense and an aggressive offense. However, Real Salt Lake is being outscored by 1.7 goals on average and has given up two or more goals in five of its seven road matches overall this season. If Real Salt Lake is going to be taken seriously as a contender in the Western Conference this season, it must improve its defensive issues and its play on the road overall. Corey Baird leads Real Salt Lake with four goals, Damir Kreilach has four assists and Jefferson Savarino has 32 shots.

LA Galaxy is 2-1-2 in the last five meetings against Real Salt Lake, and the last meeting back in September was a 1-1 draw. Real Salt Lake’s only win over the LA Galaxy during that span was last July, a 6-2 victory. Four of the last five meetings between these clubs have produced at least three goals.

LA Galaxy is certainly starting to find its form and is gaining confidence in the process. Real Salt Lake has major defensive issues and has been awful on the road this season. This feels like a favorable match for the LA Galaxy at home, especially when you factor in the recent history against this club.

I like LA Galaxy to get the victory.
