The Line: Lazio 2/5 Draw 7/2 Hellas Verona 13/2
Action from Serie A on Thursday night as Lazio play host to Hellas Verona at the Stadio Olimpico. Lazio have struggled since the start of 2016 with just two wins in eight games which has seen the team drop down to ninth in the table. Any further struggles could spell trouble for manager Pioli who is still trying to find the right balance in the team set up. Matri and Durdevic have fighting for a starting role with the latter winning out most of the time but the experience of Klose is tough to leave on the bench and even though he is 37 the former Bayern Munich striker knows where the goal is and his assists rate is up this season as he constantly puts himself in the right position.Keita , Anderson and Candreva have arguably been Lazio's best players and the aforementioned two are quality young players desired among many clubs in Europe especially Anderson as he is constantly linked with a move to Manchester United. If Lazio continue to struggle then they will lose players of this calibre and it will be back to a rebuilding phase for one of Italy's biggest clubs.
Hellas Verona are rock bottom of the league and after a run of seven defeats in ten they have put together their best form of the season unbeaten in their last five but with just one win that might not be enough to help save their season. Goals have been a problem and a strikeforce of Toni and Pazzini with a combined age of almost seventy is surely one of the problems. With that said even at thirty eight Toni looks like he can still play, he never had much pace but his strenth and hold up play is still there. Pazzini has come in on a free transfer and with four goals is the top scorer this season. Hellas need to find a way to score more but they did hit three against Inter Milan last time out so perhaps they are turning a corner.
While I agree that Lazio should be favourites with home advantage I dont think there is any value in the 2/5 being offered for the Rome club. Instead I am going to take the draw here at 7/2 on a min bet. I think Hellas Verona have shown enough over the last five games to suggest they are turning a corner and Lazio have not been consistant enough to bet on.
