Lazio is welcoming Sassuolo in round 31 of Italian Serie A.
Lazio is finally showing us their potential and have lost only 1 of last 6 games. Lazio is holding 8thplace in standings with 48 points and are only 4 points away from Champions League spot. In their last game against SPAL, Lazio was better team with 65% ball possession, 3 shots on goal and 86% of correct passes but were unable to score a goal and have lost this game 1-0 which was huge blow to the club’s ambition. Immobile is Lazio’s top goal scorer with 13 goals while Correa added 5 assists. Jordan Lukaku is injured while Radu is listed as questionable which means coach Inzaghi will have his best players at his disposal. Lazio’s midfield is their strongest asset and most of their plays go through Milinkovic-Savic, Leiva and Alberto who then distribute the ball to Correa and Immobile. Lazio’s home record is 8 wins, 3 draws and 3 losses with 27 scored goals and 15 conceded goals. Lazio needs a win here to bounce back from their unfortunate loss from a few days ago and to stay in the fight for Champions League.
Sassuolo is a decent team with some good players like Berardi, Babacar and Locatelli but they lack team work and quality to be any higher in the standings than their current 11thplace. Sassuolo has been hot and cold the whole season long and they have won only 1 of last 6 games. Sassuolo hasn’t won any of their last 7 away matches and with a road record of 3 wins, 4 draws and 7 losses, Sassuolo is one of the worst away teams in Serie A. Sassulo has a decent offense and have scored 44 goals thus far but are just terrible on the defensive end with 49 conceded goals in 30 matches and if they want to stay in the position they are in the standings, coach De Zerbi will need to make some changes and get his defense in order. Babacar is Sassuolo’s top goal scorer with 7 goals followed by Berardi with 5 goals. Marlon and Adjapong are injured and will not play in this game. Sassuolo is safe away from relegation zone and have no ambition or quality to move up in the standings so the season is practically over for them.
Lazio haven’t lost any of their last 5 games against Sassuolo and are playing in much better form and because Lazio needs this win to stay in the battle for the Champions League, I’m giving them the edge in this game.
