Leicester currently sit second in the Premier League table, while Villa are one point clear of the relegation zone. The Foxes recently beat Villa 4-1 in the league, so we could be set for another high-scoring encounter this time around.
Leicester kicked off their campaign with a penalty shootout victory over fellow top-flight club Newcastle. Brendan Rodgers’ side then smashed Championship struggler Luton Town 4-0, before seeing off League One outfit Burton Albion in the Round of 16. Leicester then survived another penalty shootout against Everton in the quarter-finals to book their place in the last four.
Back-to-back defeats to Man City and Liverpool ended Leicester’s nine-game unbeaten streak in December, but the team bounced back with victories over West Ham and Newcastle. The Foxes also sailed past Wigan Athletic in their previous game to progress into the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Aston Villa thrashed Crewe Alexandra 6-1 to kick-off their Carabao Cup campaign, while Dean Smith’s side secured a comfortable 3-1 win over Brighton in the third round. Villa then knocked out Wolves in the Round of 16, before crushing Liverpool’s youngest-ever starting line-up 5-0 in the quarter-finals.
However, following a run of disappointing results, Villa find themselves just outside the top-flight drop zone. With just two wins in their last eight league games, I can see Villa being involved in a relegation battle for the remainder of the campaign.
Just two top-flight teams have conceded more goals than Villa in 2019/20, and the team has also lacked a cutting edge in attack. After suffering defeat to Championship side Fulham in the third round of the FA Cup last time out, Villa come into this game low on confidence.
Leicester should win this game comfortably, but odds of 1.37 don’t offer much value. For that reason, I recommend the over 3.5 goals market here. The Foxes put four goals past Villa last month, and they’re more than capable of doing the same again.
