The game of the week in the Premier League midweek fixtures will see Arsenal travel north to take on Liverpool at Anfield. Arsenal the league leaders will be cognizant of the fact that the hold a slender lead at the top of the table. Arsenal though come into the game in strong form having won seven of their last eight in all competitions. The Gunners have had their struggles on the road though and lost to Southampton 4-0 last time they were away from the Emirates. Injuries to key players has had an impact on their season with Sanchez, Ramsey and Walcott all missing time this season. Sanchez is unlikely to return on Wednesday so Giroud, Ozil and Ramsey will be the key men for Arsenal as they look to get their first win at Anfield since 2012. Arsene Wenger has said that Arsenal will strengthen during the January window but right now the Gunners look like they have the best squad in the league anyway.
While Arsenal are a team fighting on all fronts with the FA Cup, Champions League and League title in their sights, Liverpool are concentrating on trying to mount a Champions League challenge, as in challenge for the top four and a place in next year's competition. The Reds under Jurgen Klopp have been quite unpredictable. Wins at Chelsea and Manchester City with majesctic performances have been added to terrible displays at Watford, Newcastle and West Ham. The only positive I can say for Klopp's team in consistancy is that they have been very tough to beat in Anfield. With injuries to Couthino , Lovren, Origi and Sturridge there is no doubt that Liverpool are missing some of their best players but Klopp will look to the experienced Milner, Henderson and Benteke to lead the way on Wednesday night.
With Anfield being one of the toughest places in the league to go and get a result I think that this is a good spot to take the draw. While I appreciate that Arsenal are favourites due to their terrific form I think this Liverpool team can definitely frustrate the gunners and will definitely be not caught wanting in the work department. I'm going to take the draw here as the value bet in what should be an intruging tactical battle.
