Liverpool +210 / Manchester City +120 / Draw +250
Liverpool will play against Manchester City in the FA Community Shield. Both teams will be looking to begin their season with a win and a trophy.
Liverpool had a slow start to their preseason as they were beaten by Sevilla, Borussia Dortmund, and Napoli. The defense was poor from Liverpool in those matches. In general, Liverpool didn’t defend well in the preseason as the Reds conceded 11 goals in their 5 games. Fortunately for Liverpool, the team managed to finish the preseason with a win as they defeated Lyon 3-1 in their final match. It was a good performance by Liverpool with Roberto Firmino and Harry Wilson scoring for the Reds. Liverpool have not looked at their best and it will be tough for them to compete against a very strong Manchester City side.
Looking at Manchester City, the team was very impressive during the preseason as they won 3 out of their 4 games. The only loss for Manchester City was against Wolves where the Sky Blues lost via a penalty shoot-out. The likes of Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane, and David Silva have been in outstanding form for Manchester City as they have been scoring freely in the preseason. The defense has also looked good for Manchester City as the Sky Blues only 3 goals in their 4 preseason games. While the competition is set to increase in this match, Manchester City will be optimistic considering their recent form.
This match between Liverpool and Manchester City is set to be played at Wembley Stadium in London. This is a neutral game for both Liverpool and Manchester City.
Liverpool and Manchester City played each other twice last season. The match at Anfield was a draw while Manchester City defeated Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium.
As far as this match is concerned, I am going to pick Manchester City to win. Liverpool have looked poor in the preseason and the defense is looking very weak. In comparison, Manchester City look in very good form. Manchester City had the edge over Liverpool last season and I see the Sky Blues defeating the Reds again in this match.
