Liverpool will begin their 2019 English Premier League campaign at Anfield where they will play against Norwich City.
Norwich City were outstanding in the Championship last season as they won the title and gained promotion to the Premier League. It was a mixed preseason for Norwich City as they had big wins and bad losses. In their final preseason match, Norwich City defeated Toulouse.
In terms of players, Teemu Pukki will be key for Norwich City as the Finnish striker was outstanding last season. Pukki scored 29 goals for Norwich City last season and he will be vital for the team. Tim Krul and Max Aarons will be important for Norwich City’s defense. This is going to be a tough match for Norwich City as they are beginning their season against an elite team in Liverpool.
Liverpool had a poor preseason but managed to find some form in the final few games. Over the weekend, Liverpool played in the Community Shield final against Manchester City. It was a close match which Liverpool lost via a penalty shoot-out. During the match, Liverpool had 53% of the possession and 17 shots. Despite trailing for most of the match, Liverpool showed great form and will be confident as they enter this match.
Liverpool have quality throughout the field with players like Virgil Van Dijk, Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino. There is a great balance to the Liverpool team and they will have the advantage of playing at home. Anfield should be full to welcome Liverpool into the new season and the players will be desperate to give the fans a win.
Liverpool and Norwich City last played in 2016. It was a high scoring match that Liverpool won 5-4.
Taking everything into consideration, I am going to pick Liverpool to win this match. Liverpool have had a solid preseason and the players seem to be finding some good form. Norwich are a significantly weaker side and it is going to be very tough for the visitors to compete at Anfield. Liverpool look very impressive and I see them starting their season by getting all 3 points.
