Madagascar will play against Tunisia in the quarterfinals of the 2019 African Cup of Nations.

Madagascar enter this match having beaten DR Congo in the previous round. It was a close match that ended 2-2 after 120 minutes but Madagascar won the tie via a penalty shoot-out. Madagascar took the lead in the 9th minute following a goal from Ibrahim Amada. Madagascar’s second goal came in the second-half when Faneva Imà Andriatsima scored.

It has been an outstanding tournament for Madagascar as they remain unbeaten in this tournament. The forwards have been very impressive for Madagascar as they have scored 7 goals in their 4 games.

On the other side of the coin, Tunisia defeated Ghana in the previous round. It was a close match that was decided via a penalty shoot-out. During regular player, Tunisia were the better team as they had the majority of the ball and led for a large portion of the match. Tunisia only conceded the lead in injury time. Tunisia remain unbeaten in this tournament although they have not won a game in regular time. Tunisia finished second in their group after all 3 of their games ended in draws. The defense has been good for Tunisia as they have only conceded 3 goals in their 4 games. The forwards have the issue for Tunisia as the team has only scored 3 times in this tournament.

This match between Tunisia and Madagascar will be played at Al-Salam Stadium Cairo.

Taking everything into consideration, I am going to pick Madagascar to win this match. Both teams have shown great determination but Madagascar look the stronger team. Tunisia lack attacking strength and I see that being costly. Madagascar have been scoring for fun in this tournament and I see them being good enough to break the Tunisian defense. If Tunisia concede, I don’t see them having enough quality to fight back into the match. With that in mind, I see Madagascar securing a spot in the semifinal.
