Manchester City vs Chelsea 2/24/19 English Football League Cup Soccer Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

Maurizio Sarri and his Chelsea team will face Manchester City in the final of the 2018/2019 English Football League Cup. This match is set to be played at Wembley Stadium so both Manchester City and Chelsea will be neutral for this game.

Manchester City and Chelsea met two weeks ago at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester where the Sky Blues made a mockery of the Blues. It was a dominant display by Manchester City as they won 6-0. During the win, Manchester City controlled the majority of the ball and complete 146 more passes than Chelsea. Furthermore, Manchester City had more shots and a better shot accuracy rate when compared to the Blues. Sergio Aguero was exceptional for Manchester City as he scored 3 goals while Raheem Sterling scored 2 goals.

Looking at Chelsea, the Blues have not had a good time since the loss to Manchester City as they were also beaten by Manchester United last week in the FA Cup. In neither game did Chelsea score which brings shows the likes of Eden Hazard and Gonzalo Higuain are playing very poorly. The defence has not been firing either as Marcos Alonso has had a very poor few games alongside the Chelsea goalkeeper.

The atmosphere at Wembley should favour Chelsea as the ground is located in London. That being said, with this match being a final, it is expected that both teams will receive equal support as many Manchester City fans should make the trip south.

Taking everything into consideration, I am going to pick Manchester City to win this match. Chelsea have been very poor over the last few weeks and the team will be very low on confidence. Having recent beat Chelsea at the Etihad, I see Manchester City winning at Wembley and taking home the Football League Cup trophy.
