One of the match ups of the midweek fixtures will see a repeat of last week's League Cup semi final with Manchester City as the home team this time and Everton the traveling side.Everton beat Manchester City 2-1 to take a slender lead into next week's semi final second leg and these two will be sick of facing each other with three games in two weeks but on Wednesday night there are three points available in the league and Manchester City will be looking to get the win that could see them close the gap on Arsenal who have a tricky away game with Liverpool on Wednesday night. Everton striker Lukaku has gone to the top of the scorer's charts with fifteen goals and is having a career year which is seeing him being linked with a move away from the Toffees. Along with Lukaku, Ross Barkley and Deulofeu are having terrific years and Everton as a whole are on track to challenge for honours in the League Cup, FA Cup and possibly to get a place in the Champions League. Roberto Martinez side after getting a win against Manchester City last week will look to repeat the feat on Wednesday.
The Citizens were terrific in their Saturday demolition of Norwich City, Sergio Aguero netted his second goal since coming back from injury and looked like he was getting his sharpness back. Ya Ya Toure, De Bruyne, Sterling and Silva will all play a support cast here to the brilliant Aguero but Manchester City can not afford too many more slip ups. Especially at home. Simply put Manchester City must continue to win games and hope that Arsenal slip up along the way. With Arsenal away to Liverpool on Wednesday I think Manchester City will look at this game as a must win which could see them close the gap on Arsenal if the Gunners fail to win at Anfield.
Two inform teams here going head to head. I think that Everton are well capable of causing lots of problems for Manchester City and Lukaku is a thorn in the side of every defence that Everton play against this year. I'm going to take both teams to score here in one of the bets of the night on Wednesday, while Liverpool and Arsenal may be billed as the big game this week I think this one could be the best game of the week!
