The Line: Manchester City Draw Everton
Sky Sports; Bein Sports
A cracking second leg is in store for football fans tonight as Manchester City try to over turn a 2-1 deficit when they host Everton at the Ethiad Arena. Everton won the first tie with a late lukaku goal after Sergio Aguero had set up Navas for an equaliser late in the game in Goodison Park. This is a solid everton team who have been very tough to read this season. Everton just played out a 0-0 draw with Manchester City just a couple of weeks back and a similar result will get Everton through to an all Merseyside Capital One Cup final. With the Premier League's leading striker Lukaku and one of the best creative midfield's around with Deulofeu and Barkley. Everton will also have the savvy Gareth Barry in midfield protecting the back four and if Tim Howard can repeat his performance of a couple of weeks ago we could see a Liverpool v Everton final.
Manchester City of course have the quality up top with Sergio Aguero, I expect Sterling and De Bruyne to start either side of the little Argentinw with Toure , Delph and Silva in behind. This is as good a front six as there is in the league right now and it will be interesting to see if they can break down a resolute but unpredictable Everton. Manchester City really struggled defensively against West Ham last weekend and have just six clean sheets in their last twenty nine games in all compeitions. Simply put City are missing their captain Vincent Kompany and the question is will the home advantage be enough to see them through a tough game tonight?
Personally I think this is the trophy that means least to Manchester City. While Pelligrini and the players will still want to win I think the FA Cup game at the weekend and the Premier League next week will be more to the fore. Manchester City should be good enough to turn this tie around but I think that Everton will want it more. I'm going to take Everton to get the draw here.
