Manchester City will host Tottenham at the Etihad Stadium for the second leg of their UEFA Champions League tie. Tottenham currently lead the tie 1-0.
Manchester City had a comfortable win over the weekend as they beat Crystal Palace 3-1 away from home. It was a good performance by the Sky Blues as they controlled 73% of the possession and had 20 shots. Raheem Sterling was the star performer for Manchester City as the winger scored 2 goals. Gabriel Jesus also scored for Manchester City. Looking at this tie, Manchester City are behind but it is still a decent position for the team. City must win at home and considering recent form, Pep and his team will be feeling confident.
On the other side of the coin, Tottenham won 4-0 in their previous match as they beat Huddersfield Town at home. Lucas Moura starred for Tottenham as the Brazilian scored 3 goals. Spurs had 70% of the ball in the win and the team looked in very good form. This will be a very challenging game for Tottenham as they will be away from home and only defending one goal against a very strong Manchester City team.
In the previous leg, Manchester City dominated the possession and completed more passes but the team simply failed to score. Tottenham defended very well during the game at home but it is going to be much tougher for Spurs to play in that manner away from home.
This match is going to be determined by the start. If Manchester City can score early, it will be tough for Tottenham to compete. If Spurs can keep a clean sheet till half-time, then the visitors have a chance. With all that in mind, I see Manchester City winning comfortably. Manchester City are a much stronger side and they should win at home with some ease.
