Manchester City -227 / Tottenham Hotspur +550 / Draw +350
Manchester City will host Tottenham at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester.
Manchester City were dominant in the opening round of the Premier League as they defeated West Ham 5-0 away from home. It was an emphatic statement by the Sky Blues as such a result it extremely tough to obtain away from home. Raheem Sterling was the star performer for Manchester City as the English winger scored 3 goals. Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero also contributed with goals. Manchester City have been outstanding over the past few years and this team has developed into a European powerhouse. Tottenham will be their first major test but the Sky Blues should be confident considering their start to the season.
On the other side of the coin, Tottenham defeated Aston Villa in the opening round of the season. Harry Kane scored 2 goals for Tottenham but Christian Eriksen was the best player. While the win was expected, it was a poor performance by Tottenham as they lacked attacking penetration for the majority of the match. The inclusion of Christan Eriksen changed the game for Tottenham but with transfer rumors flying around, it is tough to see the Danish superstar playing for Spurs this season. Tottenham lack creativity and that could be a big problem in this match since they are playing an extremely solid defensive unit. Tottenham will look to the likes of Son and Lucas to provide creativity through speed but I see them struggling against a well-organized defense. The Tottenham defense will be tested in this match and I see them having problems since Manchester City have one of the strongest attacking units in Europe.
Tottenham eliminated Manchester City from the Champions League last season but it is tough to see a similar result in this match. Tottenham are a significantly weaker side without Eriksen who seems destined to leave the team. Manchester City are firing and the team has all its bases covered. Manchester City were emphatic against West Ham last weekend and I see them being too strong for Tottenham at home in this match.
