The Line: -- Over/Under:
Manchester City will play against Wolves in the final of the Premier League Asia Trophy.
Manchester City played West Ham United in the previous round of this tournament. It was a dominant performance by the Sky Blues as they won 4-1. Raheem Sterling was outstanding for Manchester City as the winger scored 2 goals. David Silva and Lukas Nmecha also scored for Manchester City. During the victory, Manchester City controlled 56% of the possession and had 10 shots on target. The passing was outstanding from Manchester City as they completed 607 passes at a pass accuracy of 90%. The defense was also solid from Manchester City although they conceded a penalty in the 26th minute.
Manchester City have just begun preseason but the team looked very clinical. While winning a preseason tournament is good for the team, Manchester City will see this as another chance to test new players and give the big names some match time.
On the other side of the coin, Wolves also won their previous match as they defeated Newcastle United 4-0. Diogo Jota was the star performer for Wolves as the Portuguese attacker scored 2 goals. It was a dominant performance by Wolves as the team controlled 60% of the possession and had 5 shots on target. Wolves completed 221 more passes than Newcastle United which shows that the match was dominated by one team.
This match between Manchester City and Wolves is set to be played at the Hongkou Football Stadium in Shanghai, China.
Winning a preseason tournament will mean more to Wolves than Manchester City since it is unlikely Wolverhampton will be challenging for titles in the regular season. Despite this match meaning more to Wolves, I see Manchester City winning. Manchester City have far greater strength in their squad and the likes of Sterling and Silva seem to be in outstanding form. Wolves and Manchester City are bot missing key players due to the CONCACAF Gold Cup, African Cup of Nations and Copa America but Manchester City has enough depth to easily replace the missing player. With that in mind, I see Manchester City being too good for Wolves in this match.
