Manchester United and Burnley will meet Saturday on the soccer field at Turf Moor.

After being embarrassed in the Capital One Cup, Manchester United could certainly use a victory in this match to prove its a real threat in the Premier League this season. Of course, the Red Devils will get a major boost in this match with the debut of Angel di Maria, who was signed from Real Madrid for a record transfer fee. That should help make up for a brutal 4-0 loss to the League One MK Dons earlier this week. United fans can only hope that the hype of Di Maria can give the team a shot in the arm and help put to rest such a rocky start to the season. However, Manchester United’s biggest concern remains the center of the pitch with the injuries to Ander Herrera, Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick still in place. This is a big matchup and will prove to be a statement game for the Red Devils.

Burnley hasn’t gotten off to the greatest start either with back-to-back losses to Chelsea and Swansea. The Clarets then suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to Sheffield, which sealed its fate in the Capital One Cup. However, expectations aren’t nearly as high for Burnley as they are for Manchester United, so the slow start has been a little easier to swallow. Nevertheless, the Clarets enter this match a lot more healthier than the Red Devils, as Sam Vokes is the only unavailable player. While still a big injury, Danny Ings has shown the ability to attack a defense and is coming off a big season where he scored 26 goals. Still, given the odds, it’s quite clear that Burnley will have its work cut out entering this much important match.

Although Manchester United has won only two of its last six matches in the Premier League in August, the Red Devils have won five of their last six matches against Burnley.

Given the history and the addition of Angel di Maria, Manchester United should win this match.
