In the English Premier League, Manchester United will host Southampton at Old Trafford.
Southampton got a much-needed win over the week as they beat Fulham at home. The win moves Southampton closer to safety although the team is still is a difficult situation. In the previous match, Southampton were heavily boosted by the performances of James Ward-Prowse and Oriol Romeu as both players scored goals in the 2-0 win. Southampton are only 2 points above the relegation zone which means that they must keep picking up points if they wish to survive at the end of the season.
On the other side of the coin, Manchester United had a comfortable victory midweek as they beat Crystal Palace 3-1 away from home. It was a dominant display by the Red Devils as they controlled the majority of the ball and had more shots on target. The passing was impressive by Manchester United as they completed over 450 passes at an accuracy rate of 80%. Romelu Lukaku was the star performer for Manchester United as the striker scored two goals. Ashley Young also contributed by scoring a goal in the final 10 minutes to secure the victory. This is a big game for the Red Devils as a win could move them into the top 4 considering Arsenal have a tough away game at Tottenham.
Manchester United and Southampton met earlier in the season at St Mary’s Stadium where the match ended as a 2-2 draw.
As far as this match is concerned, I am going to pick Manchester United to win. The Red Devils have the stronger side and enter this match in exceptional form with all the players firing together as a unit. Southampton are a much weaker side and it seems unlikely they can compete away from home at Old Trafford. With that in mind, I see Manchester United winning this match and getting 3 points.
