One of the games of the day on Saturday in the Premier League will see Manchester United play host to Southampton at Old Trafford. The Saints arrive at the Theathre of Dreams having lost their last four away games. With Manchester United losing only once at home this season the task for this Ronald Koeman led Saints is a big one. Southampton though in those four losses have only lost by more than one goal on one occasion and that was to Manchester City in a game that they actually played quiet well and could have got back on level terms a number of times before City sealed it with a break away goal. Pelle , Tadic and Long will take the game to the Red Devils and Long and Mane's paceon the wings will cause problems for Unites, although the United rearguard has been very good this season and they do play in front of the best goalkeeper in the league in David De Gea.
Last weekend's win over Liverpool was massive for Manchester United and for Louis Van Gaal. Winning while not playing well is a prerequisite to any team with title ambitions and Manchester United have done it a number of times this season. While they look a player or two short of challenging for the title Utd are now only seven points off Arsenal and with all the top four having tough games this weekend this could be an opportunity to close the gap further. Wayne Rooney scored the winner at Liverpool and led the line well linking the play with Martial and Mata when he came on and generally making a nuisance of himself for the Liverpool defenders for 90 minutes. While this team is definitely in transition Wayne Rooney is still the leader, focal point and probably the best player alongside the exciting young french man Martial. Memphis Depay played well when introduced last week and if he can fins osme form then Unites's attacking play could get a whole upgrade with his pace and trickery.
I think for the first time in a while there is some value in taking Manchester United at home. There is no doubt that Southampton will give this game a good go and they will fancy their chance of upsetting things here at Old Trafford but I think the confidence gained by United from last weeks win at Liverpool will help them to drive on and get an important win here. Take Manchester United to get the job done here at a good price.
