Mexico vs Rep of Ireland 1st June 2016: International Friendly Preview and Predictions

Mexico take on the Republic of Ireland in a friendly international in Mexico. While this game has no real value in what it is, there is a world cup in one year and for Mexico this is a great chance for them to start settling on a side that will give them hope of running deep in that tournament.

The Republic of Ireland had a decent run in the Euro 2016 competition and I think this team has talent and I am sure some of the younger players will look to make a name for themselves with a lot of players not available for this game. Everton right back, Coleman, is the biggest loss since his experience means a lot to the team but this is a friendly and it is good that some new young players will be given a chance to make a name for themselves.

Mexico on the other hand will want to test out some players as well but they will want to look at building a squad that can compete in the 2018 World Cup. That starts at home and it will be important for the likes of Carlos Vela to step up and play for the country. This team has natural talent and at home I am pretty sure they will win so that it something that I can bet on.

Mexico winning is a bit of a banker bet in my opinion so it makes sense to take it. In addition to that, I think this will be quite a high scoring game. Both teams can attack and neither can defend making the over 2.5 goals bet a really good option for this encounter.
