USA TODAY Sports

Real Salt Lake and Sporting Kansas City meet Sunday night in the Rio Tinto Stadium.

Real Salt Lake could really use a feel good win after winning just twice in its last six matches. The issue with Real Salt Lake is its offense, as its scored just 13 goals in 15 matches, and two or more goals just four times. Javier Morales and Alvaro Saborio have combined for six goals, Devon Sandoval has two assists and Luis Gil has 14 shot attempts. Defensively, Real Salt Lake has allowed 18 goals and has pitched six shutouts overall. Nick Rimando has allowed just three goals in his last four matches. Real Salt Lake has the defense to be very competitive, but its lack of depth on the offensive end is the reason this team is at the bottom of the Western Conference. Jamison Olave is questionable with a quad injury.

Sporting Kansas City has won three of its last four matches and is quickly climbing up the Western standings. Sporting Kansas City hasn’t lost a match in seven games. Sporting Kansas City is also a defensive team that’s allowed just 15 goals in 14 matches, which includes seven shutouts. Tim Melia hasn’t allowed a goal in three straight matches, which also includes eight saves. Offensively, Sporting Kansas City has scored 22 goals, and that includes three matches with four or more. Krisztian Nemeth leads Kansas City with six goals, Benny Feilhaber has seven assists and Dom Dwyer has 36 shot attempts. Sporting Kansas City is one of the hotter teams right now in the MLS. Bernardo Anor, Paulo Nagamura and Seth Sinovic are questionable with injuries.

The last three matches between these two teams have produced a draw, including their previous meeting in April of this year. In fact, there have been no goals the last two times these teams have played.

Judging by the way these teams have played each other in the past, it seems way too easy to predict another draw. However, Sporting Kansas City has been way too hot to fade at this point. I’m predicting yet another victory here.

Pick:
Sporting Kansas City +173
