The San Jose Earthquakes and Portland Timbers play Sunday night at the Providence Park.

The San Jose Earthquakes look to keep rolling after winning their last two games and climbing up the West standings. The San Jose Earthquakes are a solid offensive team that’s been shutout just four times in 16 matches and have scored five goals in their last two matches. Chris Wondolowski leads San Jose with nine goals, Matias Perez Garcia has six assists and Sanna Nyassi has 17 shot attempts. Defensively, San Jose has been on a tear as of late, as David Bingham has 54 saves on the season and has allowed just one goal in his last three starts. The San Jose Earthquakes have won two of their last four road games and are 2-1-1 during that span overall. Ty Harden and Steven Lenhart are questionable with injuries.

The Portland Timbers look to remain red hot after winning five of their last six matches and turning their season around quickly. The Portland Timbers get the job done on the defensive end, as they’ve pitched seven shutouts in 18 matches and have allowed one or less goals in six of their last seven MLS matches. Adam Kwarasey has 43 saves and has allowed six goals in his last two starts. Offensively, Portland could be a lot better, scoring one or less goals in 11 of its matches. Fanendo Adi leads the Timbers with eight goals, Rodney Wallace has four assists and Maximiliano Urruti has 30 shot attempts. The Portland Timbers have won four straight MLS home games. Dairon Asprilla is questionable with an ankle injury.

The Timbers have beaten the Earthquakes in the last two meetings, and San Jose hasn’t won since a July match in 2013. Two of the last five meetings between these two teams have resulted in a draw.

Can you really pick against Portland right now with the way it's crushing anything and everything in sight? The Timbers are on fire right now and at home, a place where they’ve been pretty good lately, I like the momentum to keep rolling.

Portland Timbers -1
