USA TODAY Sports

The Montreal Impact and New York Red Bulls square off Saturday afternoon at the Olympic Stadium.

The Montreal Impact hope to build on their solid 3-2 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps. Montreal was able to get the victory despite losing the time of possession and allowing 21 overall shots. The Impact were very accurate offensively and had a solid 2-0 lead at the 42-minute mark. Ignacio Piatti leads Montreal with two goals, Dominic Oduro has one assist and Harry Shipp has two shots. Defensively, Evan Bush has come away with eight saves on 10 shots faced. The Montreal Impact have won their last five regular season home games.

The New York Red Bulls look to bounce back after suffering a 2-0 loss to the Toronto FC. The Red Bulls allowed two late goals to avoid picking up a point, and they managed just one shot on target the whole match. The New York Red Bulls simply looked lost on the offensive end in their season opener. Lloyd Sam leads New York with three shots, Mike Grella has two shots and Ronald Zubar has two shots. Defensively, Luis Robles has come away with three saves on five shots faced. The New York Red Bulls have lost three of their last five regular season road games.

The New York Red Bulls have owned the Montreal Impact, producing a 3-0-2 record over the last five matches. Overall, the Red Bulls have picked up points in six straight matches against the Impact. Three of the last five meetings between these two teams has produced at least four goals.

As we saw last year, the New York Red Bulls are a far better team than what they showed in their season opener. New York’s defense is solid, and it will be a team eager to get back on track after stinking up the joint at home. It also doesn’t help that the Impact have had no recent success against the Red Bulls.

Give me the road team.
