Napoli is hosting Inter in round 37 of Italian Serie A.
Napoli is on a 3-game winning streak and has scored 6 goals during this stretch. Napoli is holding second place in the standings with 76 points and no chance of getting to the top or falling down to the third place. With 68 scored goals in 36 matches, Napoli is one of the best offensive teams in Serie A. In their last game against Spal, Napoli was much better team with 61% of ball possession, 7 shots on goal, 12 corner kicks and 88% of correct passes and was able to win 1-2 with a goal in 88th minute. Milik is Napoli’s top goal scorer with 17 goals followed by Mertens who scored 14 goals and added 9 assists. Diawara, Chiriches, Insigne, and Ospina are injured and will not be playing in this game. Napoli is a great team with some good players like Milik, Mertens, Zielinski, Allan, and Koulibaly who will most likely leave Napoli because he is wanted by every big club in Europe. Coach Ancelotti is one of the best coaches in the world and is doing a great job in Napoli, but they just didn’t have enough quality and consistency to compete for the title with Juventus this season. The season is over for Napoli because they have nothing to lose or gain in this last two games and for that reason, I expect that coach Ancelotti will send out the mixed lineup with some younger players who haven’t played a lot this season.
Inter is playing in a solid form at the moment and is still in danger of losing their 3rd place in the standings because Atalanta, Roma, and Milan are close. In their last game against Chievo, Inter was dominant with 71% of ball possession, 9 shots on goal, 17 corner kicks and 88% of correct passes and was able to win 2-0. Inter’s top goal scorers are Icardi with 10 goals and Perisic with 8 goals both of who might be leaving the club at the end of the season because there is a lot of interest for them. Vrsaljko is only injured player in Inter’s squad and will not be playing in this match. Inter hasn’t lost any of their last 7 games and has scored 11 goals during that stretch. Coach Spalletti is a good coach but I don’t think he is the right choice for Inter and his future is still uncertain. With only 28 conceded goals in 36 games, Inter is one of the best defensive teams in Serie A, but their struggles were on the offensive end while Icardi was suspended. Inter needs at least 4 points in these last 2 games if they want to stay in 3rd place and get qualified for Champions League.
When playing in Naples, Inter has won only 1 of their last 10 games but because Napoli has nothing to gain or lose in this match, I think Inter takes all three points here and stays ahead of Atalanta and Milan.
