With two teams coming into this game off very different games Newcastle off the back of a derby loss and Stoke coming in after knocking out Premier League Champions Chelsea from the league cup. Newcastle were pretty much robbed last weekend after a terrible refereeing decision gave Sunderland a penalty and reduced Newcastle to ten men. Steve McClaren's men never recovered and went on to lose the game 3-0. Newcastle have lost six of their last eight but sandwiched in there was an impressive 2-2 draw with Chelsea and a 6-2 win over Norwich. St James Park will be rocking as it always is and the crowd will get behind the home team to try to inspire them to a victory here but this will not be an easy game.
Stoke City have been in great form of late and have four wins in their last five in all competitions if you include the Chelsea game midweek as a win(it was won on penalties), the Potters have some excellent young players. Bojan , the former Barcelona prodigy, has been immense and is a game winner for Mark Hughes men. Along with Arnautovich, Walters, Diof, Affelay and Van Ginkel there is some serious talent here in Stoke's midfield and attack. Mark Hughes side are tough to beat and I have to say that given the odds here and they struggles of Newcastle the away team are an intriguing play here.
This one is a game that is very tough to call. I've looked at a few different angles, dont love the price on the overs or both teams to score, Stoke are a little big though and I think that they are a very dangerous team in this position. I am going to take Stoke to get an away win here , one that could put some serious pressure on Steve McLaren.
