On Tuesday night Newcastle United will host Manchester United in St James Gate with both teams desperate for all three points for different reasons. Manchester United and Louis Van Gaal are in the chase for the Champions League and need a win to keep the pressure on a Tottenham team who currently occupy fourth but have a tough game against Leicester City on Wednesday night. While Manchester United fans may complain about the tactics of Van Gaal they cant complain about their current position in the league table. United are in transition, they finished fourth in the league last season, qualified for the Champions League and have improved this season but injuries have curtailed how effective the team has been. Martial, Rooney and Mata seem to be forming a good understanding and Martial has been sensational at times since his transfer from Monaco. If Martial continues to improve United could have a gem on their hands and with the average age of the squad very young this is a team for the future that just so happens to be competing now.
Newcastle manager Steve Mclaren is under mounting pressure, the loss to Watford this weekend was Newcastle's fourth loss in a row, all four losses have been 1-0. Obviously the problem for the magpies is putting the ball in the net with just ninteen goals this season Newcastle have the third worst offence in the league , in addtiion they have conceded thirty five goals good for the third most conceded in the league this season. All is not well at Newcastle and I think that if they continue to struggle then Steve Mclaren could be the next manager to go in the Premier League. Injuries have also had a major effect on Newcastle this season with eight first team squad members currently on the treatment tables. Perez, Mitrovic and Cissokho will be taking the game to Manchester United with Newcastle's best player Wijnaldum obviously the key man as he has seven goals and two assists this term from midfield. If Newcastle are to cause problems for United I believe it will come down the wings with Wijnaldum and Cissokho.
Tough one to call here, the unders at 4/6 is probably the bet. Tough to see the overs coming in here considering six of Newcasltle's last seven games have gone under and these two played out a 0-0 in Old Trafford earlier this season. Manchester United dont concede many with the best defence in the league and Newcastle dont score many. So the unders looks a lock. United to win 1-0 is also a generous price for those looking for a little bigger odds.
