Northern Ireland can clinch their place in Euro 2016 with a win at home against Greece on Thursday night and the home side will want to get it out of the way after failing to wrap it up against Hungary last time out. A win for Michael O'Neill's side will put them into the Euro's for the first time and would be a historic achievement for such a small country. Led by the goals of Kyle Lafferty who has scored seven goals in the competition thus far Northern Ireland are one of the fairytale stories of the qualifying campaign and will look to seal their place in France 2016 if they can get a win or if Hungary fail to beat the Faroe Islands. Gareth Mcauley has been a rock at the back alongside former Manchester United defender Johnny Evans and Northern Ireland's success has been built on their strong defensive displays.
Greece come into this game having scored just two goals in eight games, a terrible record and if they do not win on Thursday they are guaranteed to finish bottom of the group. This has been a horrific qualifying campaign and looking at the quality of player in the Greek side it is hard to know where things have gone wrong. Defensively Greece have actually been ok conceding just eight goals in eight games, just two more than Northern Ireland who are top of the group. But obviously the problem is the lack of firepower upfront where Mitroglou has failed to bring his club form to the international scene.
This game looks nailed on for the unders but at 6/5 Northern Ireland to win the game also looks a steal. Greece have played out three 0-0 draws away from home and it is tempting to go for a fourth here but I think Northern Ireland are not going to pass up the chance to guarantee qualification here and I think Lafferty, Mcauley and co will be celebrating a win at Windsor Park on Thursday night. Take Northern Ireland to get the W.
