Northern Ireland vs Switzerland 9 November 2017: World Cup Qualifier Preview and Predictions

The city of Belfast will be treated to football as their nation side attempt to win a spot in the World Cup in Russia next summer. Standing in the way of the Northern Ireland side is Switzerland. This will not be an easy game for the home side but if they wish to make it to the World Cup, they will have to get a win at home.

I am expecting Switzerland to send out a strong side that will defend well. Defending has been a strength for this side and will the like of Shaqiri and Xhaka in the side, they should be able to score as well. Playing away from home in Belfast will not be an easy task for Switzerland as I am expecting the Northern Irish to turn up in numbers to cheer their side on.

Northern Ireland will know how important it is to win at home and as a result, I am expecting them to play the aggressive game. This is not the most talented side but at home, I think they have what it takes to cause any team problems.

With all that in mind, I think this game will be a draw. Switzerland are the stronger side but I don’t think they are good enough to win away from home at Belfast. Northern Ireland, on the other hand, are not good enough to break down Switzerland and due to that, a draw seems like a likely result. We are getting a great price on this game ending as a draw and as a result that will be my pick for this game. The under 2.5 goals is also looking like a good bet for those interested in that.
