Montreal Impact and Orlando City SC meet Wednesday in MLS soccer action at Stade Saputo.

Montreal Impact continues to fall in the standings, as this club has lost four of its last five matches and is getting nothing done offensively. Montreal has been shutout in four of its last five matches, including its most recent match against FC Dallas. As if it wasn’t bad enough that a Montreal Impact sad was allowing an average of 2.1 goals per match on the season, it doesn’t make things any better that now the team can’t score. There are honestly few teams in worse form than the Impact, and there’s little reason given their current form that things are going to change. Ignacio Piatti leads Montreal with five goals, Samuel Piette has three assists and Saphir Taïder has 36 shots.

Orlando City SC isn’t playing much better, as this club has lost each of its last four MLS matches and has been getting touched defensively. In Orlando’s last match, it allowed five goals in a loss to Vancouver, and it’s now giving up 2.2 goals per match on the road this season. Orlando City SC has allowed a combined 10 goals in its last three MLS matches and has now dropped to a -4 goal differential on the season. Orlando started the season off so well, but now this club is on the brink of falling out of the playoff conversation in the Eastern Conference, especially if it can’t get points on the road. Dom Dwyer leads Orlando with seven goals, Yoshimar Yotún has five assists and Justin Meram has 40 shots.

Montreal Impact is 2-2-1 against in the last five meetings, but has earned positive results in each of the last three meetings. The last meeting back in August was a 2-1 victory for Montreal. Four of the last five meetings have produced at leas three goals.

I’m honestly not trying to back either one of these teams given their current form. Montreal has been awful on both sides and now the offense can’t do anything to help the poor defense. Orlando has no confidence right now and is getting blitzed defensively. This is probably a match you don’t bet and save yourself the trouble.

But, if forced to pick, I’d side with a draw. This feels like a match where these clubs will luck into some much needed points somehow.
