Panama and Chile meet Tuesday night in the 2016 Copa America at Lincoln Financial Field.

Panama still has a chance to advance and hopes to bounce back after getting rocked 5-0 to Argentina. Panama allowed Argentina to get 12 shots total and eight of those shots on target, as Lionel Messi scored three goals in just under 20 minutes. In two matches, Panama has allowed 27 shots total and is coming off a match in which it controlled the ball less than 29 percent. The good news for Panama is that Blas Perez continues to be aggressive on the offensive end and Alberto Quintero has come close twice now to having a breakout performance. The bad news is that Panama has been outscored 8-2 in its last three matches. Panama has a chance to advance out of the group stages in its first ever Copa America.

Chile is coming off a 2-1 victory over Bolivia and also has a chance to advance out of group D. In the victory, Chile was able to get 19 shots total and put 10 of those shots on target. Chile controlled the ball for nearly 80 percent of the match and has dominated possesion of this tournament overall. Arturo Vidal scored both goals for Chile and now has five shots on goal this tournament. Defensively, Chile has allowed and has given up no more than two goals in each of its last four matches. While Chile played better against Argentina than Panama did, it’s important to note that Messi was out with a back injury. Chile hasn’t been eliminated in the group stages of Copa America since 2004.

It’s been a nice tournament for Panama, but overall, you have to be more impressed with Chile and its aggressiveness. With the way Panama allowed Argentina to get whatever it wanted and the way Chile has controlled the pace, you have to expect La Roja to get quality looks and like its chances of getting the victory.

It was a successful tournament for Panama, but Chile gets the victory and advances to the next round.

Pick:
Chile
