Parma is welcoming last season's champions Juventus in the opening match of Serie A.
Parma was a nice surprise at the beginning of the last season, but as the season progressed, Parma's consistency and form faded and they finished the season on 14th place with 41 points, 41 scored goals and 61 conceded goals. In the preseason period, Parma played only 4 matches from which they won 2, lost 1, while 1 game ended in a draw. Parma has a solid team with the potential of being a few spots higher on the standings than last season but it will be hard to repeat last year and that is why the only goal for Parma is to stay in Serie A. Parma's best player is Gervinho, former Arsenal and Roma star who scored 11 goals last season for Parma and was a key player for Parma's good start last season. Adurante is the only injured player in Parma's roster so coach Roberto D'Aversa will have his best players ready for this match. Parma is playing fast and exciting soccer with most of the plays going through their wingers who are then crossing the ball into the 18-yard box. Parma is a dangerous team and it might take some time for them to catch a good form, and down the stretch, Parma will be a team to watch for.
Juventus is the best team in Italy and one of the best teams in Europe who has won Serie A 7 times in a row with no one coming close to them. Juventus has brought some notable and experienced players like Danilo, Romero, Demiral, Rabiot and Ramsey and one of the best young players in the world, Matthijs De Ligt which is a sign that Juventus is going all-in on winning the Champions League with a strong and experienced team. Juventus also signed one of the best coaches this summer, Maurizio Sarri who is expected to take Juventus that extra step in Champions League. Juventus now has a really good team led by Cristiano Ronaldo and young superstar De Ligt who will get even better playing alongside Bonucci and Chiellini. The fate of Higuain, Madzukic and Dybala is still unknown and they may all leave the club before the transfer window closes. Juventus is playing patient soccer with control on the defensive end and in the midfield and with the precise switch of the sides which gives Ronaldo a lot of freedom and a chance to position himself in the box for crosses from either side. Juventus hasn't done too well in the preseason matches and has lost 2 out of 3 games with conceding at least 1 goal in all of those matches. There are no notable injuries in Juventus so all of their best players are ready and will be on coach Sarri's disposal. One more thing worth mentioning is that Sarri will net be on the bench for the next 10 days because of pneumonia which could be a potential problem for Juventus during the game.
Parma hasn't lost any of their 6 home matches and could potentially be the problem for Italian top teams and because Juventus' defense is still a bit shaky I expect from Parma to score at least 1 goal at home in front of their fans.
