Porto look to take control of Group G when they host Israeli side Maccabi Tel Aviv in Porto on Tuesday. Having beaten Chelsea 2-1 in week 2 the Portugese side created one of the shocks of the tournament so far and will look to build on that good result with back to back games against Maccabi. A solid squad with some quality attacking players Porto are going to be a tough team to beat in the Champions League this year, ex Southampton and Juve striker Dani Osvaldo will lead the line with the inform Aboubaker who has scored seven goals in all competitions this year. Brahimi and Tello will provide creativity and pace and will look to take apart a Maccabi team who actually played well in both losses they suffered in the Champions League.
Maccabi just look out of their depth in terms of this competition. While they have some good players their tactics and maybe all round skill set seem to be lacking the organisation to succeed at this level. Former Chelsea center half Ben Haim is the star man for Maccabi and he along with top scorer Zahavi will look to take the game to Porto. If Maccabi are to be successful they will have to sit back and hit Porto on the counter attack. Unfortunately for Maccabi though I think this could also lead to giving Porto too much possession always a bad thing against a team with so much attacking talent.
Going to take Porto to score three or more goals tonight, I think the side proved against Chelsea that they are capable of scoring against the best of defences and I think this is a step down on Chelsea's defence tonight. Porto should win this one comfortably. Not a huge bet but one I will take all the same.
