Portugal vs. Serbia - 3/25/19 Euro Cup Qualifier Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Portugal is hosting Serbia in round 2 of Euro Cup qualifications.

Portugal is well balanced team with experienced defense led by Pepe and Fonte, strong midfield with players like Bernardo Silva, Carvalho and Neves and really good offense led by one of the best players in history of this game, Cristiano Ronaldo. In their last game against Ukraine, Portugal was the much better team with 59% of ball possession, 8 shots on goal, 18 corner kicks and 91% of correct passes but weren’t able to score a goal and game ended in a 0-0 draw. Portugal is executing most of their plays through their wingers Ronaldo and Silva who are incredibly fast when having ball in their feet. Fernando Santos is Portugal’s coach since 2014 and has brought Portugal to Euro Cup finals in 2016 which they won in overtime against France. Portugal is really good team that is playing some of the best soccer in Europe and are capable of beating any team which is put in front of them and I believe they can leave a mark in Euro Cup once again.

Serbia is a good young team that hasn’t lost any of their last 7 games and showed us in their last game against Germany that they are capable of playing against best teams in the world. In that game against Germany, Serbia was being outplayed throughout entire game by having only 34% ball possession and only 1 shot on goal but their defense was just impressive. Serbia has plenty of talented players like Luka Jovic who is one of the top goal scorers in Bundesliga and is wanted by some of the biggest clubs in the world and Milinkovic-Savic who is the leader in Lazio. Coach Krstajic is doing good job with Serbian team and had pretty good World Cup in Russia last year but not everything is great because some good players have turned down the call to join Serbian national team as long as he is the coach. As far as the roster goes, all players are healthy and ready to get these qualifications going.

Portugal is the better team here and their fans are just amazing, and with that kind of support I see Portugal shaking off their inefficiency from last game with a nice win here.

Pick:
Portugal -175

Being from Croatia I was raised with soccer all around me and I loved to watch and play soccer ever since i was little kid, especially after Croatia won third place in 1998 World Cup in France. I watch and follow soccer on a daily basis and to get the oppurtunity to write about it is amazing.
