Leipzig is hosting Bayern Munich in round 4 of German Bundesliga.
Leipzig has been close to the top of Bundesliga for a few years now but always fell short in the end when it mattered the most. In their last match against Borussia M'gladbach, Leipzig had 52% of ball possession, 6 shots on goal, 5 corner kicks, and 82% of correct passes. With a hat trick from their best player Timo Werner, Leipzig has won this game 1-3. Leipzig is the only team in Bundesliga with a 100% clean record of 3 wins in 3 matches. In these 3 games, Leipzig has scored 9 goals while conceded 2 goals. Timo Werner has 5 goals while Sabitzer added 3 assists. Hannes Wolf is the only injured player in Leipzig's squad. Leipzig's management has decided to make a change and go in a different direction when they saw that it will be hard to catch up to Bayern and Borussia Dortmund and their first move was signing of one of the best young coaches in the world, Julian Nagelsmann. Once the players have gotten used to the new coach's ideas, the progress was visible and Leipzig is now a legit contender for Bundesliga titles. Leipzig is playing solid and compact soccer on the defensive end, and fast and exciting soccer with a lot of goal chances on the offensive end.
Bayern Munich has started this season with 2 wins and a draw, 11 scored goals and only 3 conceded goals. In their last match against Mainz, Bayern has demonstrated all of their power. With 67% of ball possession, 10 shots on goal, 10 corner kicks, and 88% of correct passes Bayern was dominant and with 6 scored goals from 6 different players only shows their versatility on the attacking end. Lewandowski has scored 6 goals and is Bayern's top goal scorer. Leon Goretzka is the only injured player in Bayern's team with a hamstring injury and his return date is still unknown. Lewandowski, Coutinho, Gnarby, Thiago, Coman, Perisic and Muller are just some of the offensive weapons for coach Niko Kovac but more importantly, Bayern is slowly getting in shape on the defensive end with Neuer between the posts and Pavard, Hernandez and Sule in the defensive line. Bayern is the top favorite in Bundesliga and coach Kovac is doing a great job and has full support from clubs management. Bayern had a lot of players on the international duty for their countries but I don't see that as a problem because Bayern has depth and players to cover every position on the field. Bayern is just behind Leipzig in the standings with 2 wins and a draw and is the best offensive team in Bundesliga with 11 scored goals. Bayern is playing patient soccer with lots of shot passes and high ball possession which allows their defense to step up and join the play. Most of Bayern's plays are going through their wingers who are then cutting in and taking a shot of crossing the ball into the box to Lewandowski.
Leipzig and Bayern have played 8 times since 2016. with Bayern winning 6 matches, Leipzig 1, while 1 game ended up in a draw. Both teams are playing great soccer and are in good form so it's hard to predict a winner, even though I'm giving a slight edge to Bayern. I will pick something on goals here.
