Betis is all set to welcome Atletico Madrid in round 22 of Spanish LaLiga.
After a rocky start of the season Betis has finally started to play good soccer and have climbed the standings all the way up to 8th place with 29 points, only 3 points away from European League. In the last 5 games Betis has lost only once and that was away game against Bilbao. Canales leads the team with 5 goals while Tello added 5 assists. Carvalho and Tello are both injured and will not play which is a big blow for Betis because these two players very important for the team. Betis doesn’t play an overly attacking game, instead they try to control the midfield and wait for the opportunities from counter attacks which will be hard to do given that two of their best midfielders are injured.
Atletico Madrid is the main competitor to Barcelona for the LaLiga title. Atletico is a team that is playing patiently with a strong midfield and strong defense. Griezman is the leader and top goal scorer of this team with 10 goals and 6 assists and is one of the best players in the world. Costa, Savic, Koke and Godin are all injured and will not play while Niguez is listed as questionable. Alvaro Morata is Atletico’s latest signing and is expected to debut in this game. Atletico’s game style is based on strong defense and strong defensive possession and because of that they don’t create a lot of chances but the ones they do usually ends with a goal. Atletico is on a pretty long streak of 19 games without a loss which include 8 away games without a loss.
These are two teams that are playing patient and very defensive soccer so I’m not expecting a lot of excitement or goals in this game. I’m giving the edge to Atletico because they are better team and are on a roll.
