Real Madrid will face Ajax in the UEFA Champions League. This is the second leg of the tie with Real Madrid leading 2-1.
It has been a tough few weeks for Real Madrid after they were beaten by Barcelona twice at home. During their previous match, Real lost 1-0 after Ivan Rakitic scored early for Barcelona. It was a poor performance by Real Madrid as the team took 17 shots but had a shot accuracy percentage of on 17%. That being said, Real Madrid seem to find their best form in the Champions League and they will hope they can hold onto this team by preventing Ajax from scoring twice.
It is going to hard for Ajax to win this tie after they lost at home which means they are behind by 1 goal and 2 away goals. If Ajax wins 1-0 they will still be eliminated on the away-goal rule which means that the Dutch side will have to start attacking from the 1st minute. Since their loss in the first leg, Ajax have been in good form as the team has won all 3 of its games. Donny Van de Beek has been in exceptional form for Ajax as he has scored in both of his previous games.
While Real Madrid’s poor form will give Ajax hope, it is going to be a very difficult task for the Dutch giants to turn this tie around. Real Madrid have a very strong history in the Champions League and they will know that they need to have a solid defensive game to ensure qualification into the quarterfinals. I am expecting Ajax’s attacking approach to be in vain as it will allow the likes of Bale to run free and win the game for Real Madrid. I see Real Madrid winning this match and also a spot in the quarterfinals.
