Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid - 9/29/18 La Liga Soccer Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Real Madrid will host Atletico Madrid this weekend for a big Madrid derby.

Atletico Madrid have been in good form having won their last three matches in convincing style. The defense continues to be the strength for Atletico Madrid as the team have only conceded 4 goals in their 6 La Liga matches. The pair of Gimenez and Godin have been amazing for Atletico Madrid and with the likes of Koke, Antoine Griezmann and Diego Costa scoring regularly, this team looks very hard to beat. This will be the first big test for Atletico Madrid as the team is yet to have played a top side this season. It is going to be a tough test as Real Madrid are a great side and it is never easy for a visiting side to play at the Santiago Bernabeu.

On the other side of the pitch, Real Madrid have also started their season very well and it seems the side have adjusted very well without Cristiano Ronaldo. Gareth Bale and Isco have been exceptional for the home side and the Real Madrid midfield comprised of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos have controlled most games they have played. Real Madrid have already scored 12 times in La Liga this season so this match is expected to be battle between the home teams exciting attack and the away teams solid defense.

The last time these two teams met was at the start of the season at the UEFA Super Cup where Atletico Madrid won. While that win would have given the visitors confidence, it is not a great indication for this match as Real Madrid were not fully prepared that early in the season.

This is set to be a great game between two really strong sides. I am going to pick Real Madrid to win this match. They are a very good team and I think their home ground advantage will get them the three points.
