Real Madrid is welcoming Celta Vigo in round 28 of Spanish LaLiga.
The past few weeks were some of the toughest for Real Madrid where they lost twice against Barcelona and got knocked out of Copa del Rey, fell behind to 3rdplace in LaLiga with 12 points less then Barcelona and at the end of this disastrous period they got knocked out of Champions League losing to Ajax. Reasonably all of these bad results and losses disturbed some waters in Real Madrid and in the end they fired coach Solari who took over in October last year and signing Real Madrid’s legend and former coach who brought them 3 Champions League trophies in a row, Zinedine Zidane. Zidan’s signing brought a lot of joy amongst players and fan and this will be a huge positive shock for the Real Madrid who won only 2 of their last 6 matches and are practically out of the LaLiga champion race. Real Madrid’s home record is 8 wins, 1 draw and 4 losses and in their last game against Valladolid they controlled the match with 63% ball possession, 6 shots on goal and 4 scored goals which was enough for 1-4 away victory. Karim Benzema leads Real Madrid with 13 goals wile Bale added 7 goals. Real Madrid’s injury list is pretty long and some important players like Vinicius, Carvajal and Casemiro will not play in this game. Zidane is Real Madrid’s third coach this season after Lepotegui and Solari and given his chemistry and connection with the players and fans I expect for Real Madrid to start turning things around.
Celta Vigo are in a huge slump since the season started and are not showing any signs of improvement. With only 1 win in last 12 matches, Sevilla is holding 18thplace in the standings with 25 points and are fighting for their lives in LaLiga. Celta’s record this season is 6 wins, 7 draws and 14 losses and for the team with this much potential and the team that played European competitions two seasons ago this is unacceptable. Celta is capable of producing a lot of chances on the attacking end but the problem is they can’t keep the ball out of their net and have conceded 45 goals in 27 matches. Aspas is Celta’s top goal scorer 10 goals while Gomez added 9 goals. Aspas, More and Mallo are injured and will not play this game which is a huge blow for Celta because their top striker is injured. In their last game against Real Betis, Celta got completely dominated and they had only 37% ball possession and only 1 shot on goal and have lost this game 0-1 at home. There is still time for Celta to turn things around and to stay safe in LaLiga but for that to happened defensive approach has to change completely and that’s when points will come.
Head to Head, Real Madrid has dominated the series and have score 18 goals in last 5 matches and I’m expecting same thing in this game because Celta’s defense in one of the worst in LaLiga and Real Madrid players will do everything to greet their new coach with a win.
