Roma and Real Madrid will play a preseason friendly at the MetLife Stadium in the United States. Both teams are preparing for the new season ahead by playing each other. This will be a season of rebuilding for both these major teams and as a result, this match will be a great opportunity to see the players that the teams have available.
Roma lost Radja Nainggolan to Inter Milan and Allison to Juventus during the summer transfer window and those two players leaving will hinder the side greatly. The lack of talent was evident in their loss to Tottenham. That being said, AS Roma bounced back well in their last US tour match as they beat a second XI FC Barcelona side. This transfer window has not been very successful for AS Roma as they have failed to get their top targets such as Malcolm and it will be interesting to see how that impacts the Italian side in this match as they have no big players to field.
Similar to AS Roma, Real Madrid have also lost their top players with the big example being Cristiano Ronaldo leaving for Juventus. Furthermore, Real Madrid are still trying to find his replacement with Eden Hazard still a Chelsea player. This lack of players was evident as Real Madrid lost to Manchester United in a preseason friendly. It is important to note that the likes of Gareth Bale, Toni Kroos, and Isco will all be back for this game and if they play, Real Madrid will be very hard to beat.
All in all, I am expecting this game to be won by Real Madrid. The 2018 Champions League winners have many top players while Roma does not. I think the Spanish side wins quite easily. We are getting a decent price to wager on Real Madrid winning so that is the bet which I am going to suggest we make. In addition to that, I am also a fan of the over 2.5 goals. These preseason games tend to be high scoring so we should easily get 3 goals.
