Interesting game on Friday night as high flying Angers look to get back on track when they travel to Rennes. Rennes are having a strange season having won just one of their last twelve home games they are struggling to pick up wins at home although they have five draws in that twelve game period. Rennes will look to a strong squad with a mix of both experience and youth. Gourcuff, Sio and the extremely exciting eighteen year old Dembele will lead the way for Rennes as they look to leap frog Angers in the league table. With the exception of PSG and Monaco only nine points seperates third to fifteenth in the Ligue 1 table so a couple of wins has the potential to dramatically change a teams season.
Angers were flying high in third for most of the season but a run of five losses in their last six games has seen them drop to fifth and they are in danger of fropping even further. With that said to Angers were only promoted last year so to see the team doing as well as it has in it's first year up in Ligue 1 is encouraging for those playing in Ligue2. Angers had built their solid start to the season on a tremendous home record as they have only lost twice at home all season. The team is really struggling at the moment away from home and have lost their last four away league games and Friday's game will be a tough one as Rennes already did beat Angers 2-0, one of their only two home defeats this season. Top scorer and star man N'Doye is the key for Angers if he can get on enough ball with Mangani and Capelle in midfield then Angers always have a chance, the lack of a top class striker has hurt Angers this season and it is something they will need to address in the summer if they want to push on in Ligue1.
I'm going to take Rennes here, I think they have slightly more experience and to be honest are in just a slight bit better form. Neither side is in great form but with Rennes showing a little more since the turn of the year I think they are a smart play with home advantage and a decent price of 19/20.
