As the Euro2016 qualifying campaign comes to a close we have some terrific fixtures left that will decide the finishing places in the tightly contested groups. If the Republic of Ireland can beat Germany at home they will move to within one point of the Germans at the top of the group and will guarantee themselves at least a place in the playoffs to get into the Euro's. The Irish have had a strange qualifying campaign, they got impressive points away to Germany and at home against both Poland and Scotland but lost away to Scotland. The Green Army under Martin O'Neill have been solid as a rock at times and their wins over Georgia were hard fought but well deserved. Shane Long and Robbie Keane are competing for the starting striker spot but surely Long's time has come to make that spot his own. Keane is the all time leading scorer for Ireland but at his current age is just not able for 90 minutes. Martin O'Neill will put out a team that will work hard for each other through out the 90 minutes as they face the World Champions on Thursday night.
Germany were shocked by Ireland in the first game when they struggled to break down the Irish rearguard and then came undone when John O'Shea equalised in the last minute. Joachim Low will be looking to wrap up qualification here with a win but will be wary that Ireland could have a sting in the tail and will put in a huge performance on Thursday night at home in the Aviva Stadium. With Thomas Muller, Goetze, Ozil there is a huge amount of talent in the German squad and i's really hard to see them not winning this game when you look at these two teams on paper. Germany struggled at times against Scotland and Poland and I think Ireland will give as good as they get here. This one is lining up to be a corker.
Going to take both teams to score here as I see this one being a tactical battle that eventually ends with both teams going for it, more than likely after Germany take the lead. Martin O'Neill will be happy to defend an sit back but I think that when Germany score the Irish will then come out gungho and go for it. This should lead to goals , hopefully for both!
