Roma is welcoming Fiorentina in round 30 of Italian Serie A.

Roma is in a huge slump and have won only 2 of their last 6 games with 15 conceded goals during that time. In their last game against Napoli, Roma was a disaster with only 39% ball possession, only 3 shots on goal and 81% of correct passes and have lost that game 1-4 in front of their own fans. Roma are slipping down the standings fast and are now holding 7thplace with 47 points and if coach Ranieri doesn’t do something Roma might not qualify for any of the European competitions. Roma’s top goal scorer is El Shaarawy with 9 goals followed by Dzeko and Kolarov with 7 goals. Bianda, Florenzi, El Shaarawy and Manolas are injured while Dzeko and Pastore are listed as questionable. There is a lot going on and Roma are not playing good soccer for a while now especially on the defensive end and with a lot of tension between players which has escalated into a fight after a game couple of weeks ago, coach Ranieri has to do everything he can to turn things around before it’s too late.

Fiorentina are in even bigger slump then Roma and have won only 1 of their last 9 games. Fiorentina is a team with lots of potential and great young players like Chiesa, Simeone, Pjaca, Gerson, Fernandes and Benassi who is Fiorentina’s top goal scorer with 7 goals. Pjaca is only injured player in Fiorentina squad so coach Pioli will have his best players at his disposal. Fiorentina had decent start of the season and were playing fast and enjoyable soccer with lots of fast passes and created chances but as it often happens with young team such as Fiorentina, team losses focus and consistency as the season progresses. In their last game against Torino, Fiorentina had 43% ball possession but were better in every other aspect of the game with 8 shots on goal, 7 corner kicks and 72% of correct passes and game ended in a 1-1 draw. This Fiorentina team has a potential and talent to do great things and if the club manages to keep most of these young stars, Fiorentina will be fighting for one of the top 5 positions next season.

Both of these teams are in a big slump and Roma hasn’t won any of the last 3 matches against Fiorentina but because Roma is playing at home, I think this is where they bounce back after last week’s disaster against Napoli.

Pick:
AS Roma -111

Being from Croatia I was raised with soccer all around me and I loved to watch and play soccer ever since i was little kid, especially after Croatia won third place in 1998 World Cup in France. I watch and follow soccer on a daily basis and to get the oppurtunity to write about it is amazing.
