Roma is hosting Juventus in round 36 of Italian Serie A.
Roma is playing really good soccer at the moment and is on a 6-game streak without a loss with 9 scored goals during this stretch. In their last game against Genoa, Roma was a better team with 59% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, 7 corner kicks and 81% of correct passes and was lucky with the 1-1 draw because Genoa missed a penalty in the last minute. El Shaarawy is Roma’s top goal scorer with 11 goals followed by Dzeko with 8 goals. Bianca and Perotti are injured and will not be playing. There was a lot of confrontations in Roma’s locker room 2 months ago but it seems now that players left that behind and are eager to finish this season strong and fight until the end to get to that Champions League spot, and for that to be possible, Roma has to win all three remained matches. Roma is on a 6th place at the moment with 59 points, 4 points behind Inter and Atalanta and 3 points behind Milan. Dzeko and Kolarov will be leaving Roma for sure at the end of the season while some other players are still uncertain of their future and where they will continue their careers. Coach Ranieri has already announced that he will be leaving the team so Roma’s management will have a lot of work to do to find a decent replacement for this Italian legend.
Juventus has already won the title a few weeks ago thanks to Napoli’s bad run so this game has no meaning for Juventus at all. In the last 6 games, Juventus has only 1 win with 3 draws and 2 losses and is not playing good soccer. Cristiano Ronaldo is Juventus’ best player and top goal scorer with 21 goals and 7 assists and is third best goal scorer in Serie A. In their last game against Torino, Juventus was a much better team with 58% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 7 corner kicks and 80% of correct passes and after falling behind in 17th minute, Ronaldo scored in 84th minute and game ended in a 1-1 draw. Perin, Madzukic, Khedira, Sandro, and Bernardeschi are all injured and will not be playing. All important players like Ronaldo, Madzukic, Khedira, and Chiellini will stay with Juventus while Dybala, Sandro, and Cost will find a new club. Coach Allegri is doing a great job with Juventus and has won Serie A title 4 times in last 5 years, but the Champions League title is the one title that Juventus desires and for that reason only, Allegri’s future in Juventus is still unclear.
When playing at home, Roma hasn’t lost to Juventus in their last 4 matches and their home record is 10 wins, 5 draws and 2 losses. Roma is playing in a better form then Juventus and is in a desperate need of a win to stay in the fight for Champions League and for that reason I’m giving Roma the edge here.
